As I have stated like 5 times, this summer I am getting a 75 gallon fish tank. I have previously been running 3 10 gallons and 2 5 gallons, and 1 2.5 gallon.
So I am selling all of those and getting just one big 75 gallon tank. But is it to much of a drastic change? Is it easier to run 6 small tanks than 1 big tank? I have the tank picked out, and its in my price range, but I'm woundering if I should wait another year, and start off with a 55 gallon. Now, a 55 gallon would give me pratice for a bigger one, but I feel its a waste of time and money. Whjat do you think?

Just get the 75. Once you get the 55 you may wish you got the extra depth of the 75. These are nice sized tanks, big but not overwhelming. One big tank is much, much easier then a bunch of small tanks. All you need is a python hose (goes from the tap to the tank, no buckets involved) and you'll see just how easy this tank is to upkeep.

Not to mention bigger tanks are so much kinder if you miss a water change or something like that.

One big tank is definitely much easier to keep than many small ones  but it entirely depends on whether or not all your current fish are compatible in one big tank :dunno:

In fact, you will soon wish that you went with the extra heigth of the 90 gallon over the 75.

The 90 has the same footprint, just 4" taller.

Hey, what a coincidence, I have a 90 I can sell you.... :D

I'd definatly go for a bigger tank simply because they are easier to maintain better constant water stats in and can hold a wider range of fish in :)

Oh? PM me the detales? Or did you post it in the bottom forum thingy?
Very unlikly, but you should alwasy keep your options open!

I would have to agree that running one bigger tank over several smaller ones would be much easier. I plan on doing the same thing as you are, but I am going from several 35 and 45's to a 135+ :)

The bigger the better  even so, it still won't be enough - expext to experience a wave of MTS very very soon. :D

I would get the biggest tank you can afford and have room for (don't block the door out of the room unless there is a window you can get in and out of...lol). Larger tanks seem to stay more stable (pH especially) than small tanks. Unless money is an issue, I would keep the other tanks too, at least one of the 10 gallons for a hospital/Q-tank. You just haven't been bitten by the MTS bug yet but you will.

freddyk said it best, just get a python hose and it's easy as pie. One thing about tanks: Every time you get a new one, you'll think "WOW! This is pretty big!" But a couple months later you'll think "Meh. It's pretty big." Soon after that it's "Man, this is to small. I want something WAY bigger!"

Trust me. I now think 125's are small! Already pondering something much, much bigger...... "Hello Mrs. 200+ gallon! Where have you been all my life, you naughty vixen?" :hey:

Right now I'd be happy with a 55g, but man, 200g...... Where's mine? ;)

The thing is that the tank is going to be on a second story, so I dont know if My floor will support a 2,000 ound fish tank. I dont even know it will easliy support a 75G.
