i have a pictus catfish and would like some inverts have seen some nice babmoo shrimp and african filgter shrimp about 3" long love the filter shrimp think they are so cool. now im confident they are big enough for the pictus not to eat but would they be vulnerable whilst moulting?

That pictus will definitely eat them. They are predatory catfish! I would set up a separate tank for shrimp by themselves, if I were you.

ok. thanks for the advice . if i rehomed the pictus would they be safe with blue acara?

well i can't talk for all pictus, but they always ignore the Bamboo shrimp, in my tank, and the tanks others. they tend to pick places to moult that the pictus can't get to. even at only one inch long. the six inch pictus shows no interest!

Blue acaras are likely to attack shrimp too. Really if you want to keep fish and inverts in the same tank you are looking at keeping small fish like tetras and Corydoras.

ah i see. thanks for the advice think i will keep the pictus and forget the inverts. doin the whole tetras and corys thing at the mo. when new tank gets here wednesday i want to get away from all that and go for slightly larger fish in the 4 to 6 inch range .

many thanks
