I set up a separate tank for my blue shrimp as they were not looking happy in the main tank (less than 3 mnths and I am already adding tanks ).
I bought a plant from a different place to normal and it "melted" causing a mess in the tank. I cleaned as much as possible, even taking the "grass" plant out and rinsing it.
However tonight as I went to switch the light out I noticed lots of thin, hair thin, white worms, swimming about in a convoluted 's' shape, some are probably just under 2cm long. There are also lots of tiny white dots on the glass ( jeez I'm itchy just thinking about it). Some stationery some moving around somewhat jerkily.
They weren't there yesterday.
I'm assuming it's because of the melting plant and the waste it's caused in the tank.
I'll do a water change tomorrow. There are no fish in the tank just 5 blue shrimp.

Q. Is the cure chemical or should I add small fish?

Don't want to add fish if these are parasitic creatures.

My main tank is clear, no sign of these in it.

Do they look like this?

Not that I can see, that looks short stubby and I can't say they had an arrow shaped head. I assume that is planaria?

I think the others are copepods and am OK with them
