over the past 2 weeks, my tank has multiplied copepod populations by 20! everywhere i see, there are copepods! What do i do?!!! I have a buncha wood which i place in the middle and i look at it, it looks like it is completely filled with copepods... so is the surface of my glass. I have many baby cherry shrimps so i dont want to add chemicals. Is there any other way to solve this problem? first of all, are copepods even a problem?

Question not related to topic: how many cherry shrimps can i fit in a 2.5 gallon tank?

Copepods really aren't a problem for the health of your tank and its inhabitants, in fact they're really quite beneficial. However if you have so many that its making the tank look ugly the only thing i can think of doing is reducing the amount of food you add and maybe adding a small fish to eat the copepods, however chances are it will eat many of the shrimplets as well.

As far as how many shrimp you can fit in, that depends on how much you squish them :fun:

i NEVER add food into the shrimp tank haha! i let the bright light create algae for the shrimp to feed off of. thanks for the advice though!

They will starve then!!! Also when they molt (if they do) they will shrink as they are not getting sufficient food. Chuck in some vege every so often partially blanched a scrap from dinner. I give mine pellets every 2 days, they get the scrap fish food and every 3 days i give them vege also if I happen to see a worm, spider, ect. chop it up and chuck it in for the shrimp if its not being eaten within an hour take it out but mine will devour anything. I chucked in a live milliped once and it was wrestling with a shrimp for 3 hours I took it out as I pitied it as the shrimp couldn't get through its armour it was just being chucked around the tank.

oh wow, thanks for the advice! I thought you werent supposed to feed shrimp fish flakes. I got some lettuce, do they eat that? If they do, do i have to soften it for them to actually eat it?
