Hi All

Just thought I'd introduce my cat, Pepsi, to the forum. He's about 13 yrs old and I've had him since he was a kitten. I think he's still a handsome boy, despite his age - and he's still in good health!

He's a house cat but since we moved out of a flat into a house with a garden, he has been getting braver about having a nosey around the garden. He hated it at first and if I took him out onto the lawn he would lie on his tummy refusing to walk and as soon as he heard a rustle of the wind, he'd dash back indoors. But he's more used to it now and seems to enjoy exploring the flower beds for 10 mins - but still prefers the warmth of indoor life!

He has a strange food addiction, too...have you ever heard of a cat that loves to eat green olives? He goes crazy for them! If I happen to have them on my plate, he can smell them and starts miaowing and throwing himself at my feet and rolling onto his back (oh he does that when he wants to be fed as my daughter taught him to "Lie down" for a cat treat when he was a kitten). My daughter and I laugh about it and say he must be a Greek cat (we are half Greek) because not only does he love olives but he seems to understand when I talk in Greek to him!

He follows me around the house like a dog, forever at my heels - he also does tricks - if you say "give me your paw" he'll lift a paw up and put it in your hand. Then you can say "give me the other paw" and he'll put the first one down and lift the other paw up into your hand! If you say, "Lay down" he does so and he has even been known to follow the instruction "roll over" many a time (although it depends on his mood LOL).

He refuses to drink water from a bowl - he has to drink straight from the bath tap!

Not entirely sure how to post pics but giving it a try as it's ages since I posted any. This was taken a couple of months ago...

Aww, thanks Zophie - do I have to do something now you've nominated Pepsi?

edit: it's ok, just found Ludwig's rules and seen that I need another nomination to enter Pepsi into the comp.

And that you have Athena... I second Pepsi for November POTM.... so you may move the photo to the nominations thread and Good luck!

Woo, thanks Ludwig! I shall do that for sure!

Biffster - wish I could say that Pepsi is the same size as when he was a kitten but I'm afraid he's a big, heavy ol' boy - a tad TOO big LOL. But he's still a good looking cat and people don't realise he's that old when they see him.

He's got a floppy tummy, though, due to having two operations in the past (we nearly lost him) which made his muscles weak, so when he runs, his belly swishes from side to side LOL

His first operation when he was a kitten was awful - he had to have half his intestines cut away because he had somehow managed to find his way on top of my wardrobe (as nosey cats do!) and found my sewing kit up there (unfortunately the lid wasn't on it tight). I came home, saw an empty cotton reel on my bed, thought it strange but assumed my daughter had been sewing cos she was always making stuff...wasn't until couple days later I noticed Pepsi wouldn't eat and was gagging/throwing up and I caught sight of cotton thread hanging out of his mouth! Then when he turned around I had another shock - a piece of poop attached to a piece of cotton thread out of his bottom!

To cut this long and very upsetting story short - he had eaten the cotton off the reel and it had tangled up inside his intestines, causing them to concertina and rip...a truly awful thing to happen...how he survived it I really don't know and neither does the vet!

Just as well I had pet insurance too!

LOL, thanks Tucan - I think that was just a flattering angle I caught him at

I third nominate Pepsi for PETM Nov :X :D
He sounds outrageously cute

My Billy is the same with Olives, I have never been able to understand why  the first time he did it, I had put a lovely big bowl of them of a side table and had gone off to fetch a large g&T to sit down and watch a film, when i got back they were all over the floor and he was chasing them and lick, lick, licking....... boy, was I grumpy, why do they do it do you think?

Yaay another cat who loves olives! Wow, I thought Pepsi was the only one!

I've no idea either - but they seem to have the same effect on Pepsi as catnip does to some cats.

Oh and thanks, Carlovel1 !
