I have a 112g and 90g tank that I am going to be doing some major switching around in as I'm moving...Most of my fish are going back to the LFS for store credit. I am planning on keeping my pl*co and black tiger oscar for my 112g, 90g will be emptied and put in storage. I went to the LFS to talk to them about store credit for the fish and saw this gorgeous full grown albino tiger oscar in a small tank, they were willing to take offers on it as it'd been there for 2 months. So, they said I could trade all my fish in for this oscar (Big Girl is 10", the one for sale is about 12"). I want to save this poor thing, but how would I go about introducing him to Big Girl? Would it possibly work?

I think it's not a good idea, it isn't easy to get two adults to get along, and the chances are against you. If you wanted to give it a shot, get a divider through which they can see each other. How they act through it will give you an idea of what will happen if you put them together.

I also don't think it would work. The best way to get oscars to get along is to bring them up together. And even when I added 3 oscars together. The smallest one was picked on so I had to move him/her.

ok, well i think i will go against it then...i want to keep Big Girl as she's like a kid to me! I've had her since she was almost 2" and now she's a stunning 10"! Out of the fish I was going to bring back to the LFS (jack, blood parrot, severum (bp and sev shouldnt be seperated), and albino O), what do tou think would make the best tank mate(s) for a black tiger o?

Occy, if your Oscar has lived on it's own until now I wouldn't begin to add the tension of other cichlids to the tank. IMO get a schoal of tinfoil barbs or silver dollars, something large that will be mostly ignored by the Oscar. Just make sure you get them big enough.

freddyk, she has always been with somwthing.... previously it was with the blood parrot and severum, and right now it's a smaller oscar and a male convict...i would love to get a shoal of silver dollars, but i dont think i can find any large enough as she's 10" now...
