Hi there,
I am currently looking for a new internal filter that will do 140litres in a 4ft tank. I already have an eheim 2212 and an aquarclear3. The eheim doesn't really have the flow rate I would like and the aquaclear clogs easily as it is one big sponge. So when you clean it you lose your bacteria colony all in one.
I have read some of the comments on this site and another name that springs up is Interpet but then someone says that they are too noisy.
Can folks give me their experience and opinions.
Cheers
Xanthe

Going on exp

If you can get a internal filter form a juwel 180 they r very quiet and i never seem to have any probs......

The wise ones will correct me if im wrong :(

I've never owned a Juwel filter but i do no a lot of people decide to take them out and replace them.

Fluval internals are good, i've owned three and never had any problems. Have you considered upgrading your external, if you went for either a Eheim 2215 or 2217 you would find a much improved flow rate.

Sorry didn't make myself clear. When I am cleaning the Aquaclear sponge in comparison to the eheim, you have to clean one big sponge which disturbs all your bacteria in one go. In comparison when you clean an eheim you can clean part of it and not disturb the other filter and bacteria colonies.
Sorry I said you "lose your colony of bacteria", after reading back after your comment I know why your questioning it. I was kind of meaning with one sponge you are putting all your "bacteria chickens into one sponge basket". I was trying to throw up the pros and cons of the filters and doing a bad job of it.
How are you losing the entire bacteria colony when you clean it?
