I have just purchased an EHEIM 2210 for £17.95p. I am happy with the filter in my 100 litre tank.
The box and documentation say the filter is for a 60-160 litre tank, and has a throughput of 550 litres per hour.

The reason for my post is that I have read in a SERA guide that the filter performance should be approx 1.5 the aquarium volume? (therefore I only need 150 litres per hour)???

Does this mean that my filter is too powerfull for the tank?

No fish yet, only approx 40 plants. Planning 3 Bronze cats and 10 Harlequins.

The output from the filter does not appear to disrupt the plants.

it all depends on what fish you plan on keeping
some won't like the current created by th filter, some will.

the effect of the filter could be dissipated by use of a spray bar
or by aiming th outlet at the back of the tank.

you can never have too much filtration IMHO.
