Aye! they are massive those UV sterilisers even the Nano is a surprisingly large unit, but you must get one that suits the flow rate of your filter rather than just the size of your tank or they will not work well.

That's good advice.  I worked out that if I get the Eheim 250 at 440lph then I'd need the Vecton V2 200, since the mini has a lower maximum flow rating.  But I'm scratching my head wondering how I'm going to fit a Vecton 200 inside my tiny cabinet

Kirky - do I remember that you have a Vecton 200 hidden behind your cabinet?  Can you give me the dimensions of the blue casing and the hose fittings (hosetails I think they're called), please?

Dave - I'm going to have another look at the impeller on my PF2 and see if I can improve it (when I get the chance, really busy weekend ahead, kid's birthday!) but I really doubt they would replace the whole unit.  The warranty doesn't cover 'perishable' parts or anything that suffers wear and tear through normal use, as far as I know.  Our water is rather hard so that might be why it's struggling.

True, my water is softer than than an Andrex puppy! Used to companies not being able to claim deposit build up etc.

Mine is infact the V2 300 for my 125L and it's dimensions are 14"x5"x3" and the "hosetails" extend a further 3" down with elbow fitting out flow hosetail is just about level with the top of the unit. you may be able to fit a 200 between tank and wall on the side of the stand if you have room to pull it away the 3" from the window wall it would take up.

Oh that's interesting, it may be that the V2 200 model is a bit smaller than I thought.
Are you sure you've got the 300 model lol, I thought the 200 was 14 inches and the 300 was supposed to be 18 inches long!

I'm trying to avoid fixing it on the outside of the cabinet as it would be too obvious... but the cabinet is only a smidgen over 14 inches wide!

wasn't 100% sure but checked my sales invoice and order history at Seapets before I made my previous post, and yes it is the (16w) V2 300

Just done a bit of searching for dimensions of the V2 200 and apparently they are 36cmx20cmx10cm (hope this helps)

Thanks Kirky, that's what I found but I didn't trust those dimensions hence why I wanted to check with you, it works out as 14"x8"x4" which is bigger than your V2 300!

So that doesn't sound right.

Right daiseUK   :)  Curiosity got the better of me I have just took the unit from it's mounting place. Mine is 100% confirmed as a V2 300 as that what is printed on the sticker on the unit, and it measures 14 ¾ " and that's inclusive of the skirted area that I didn't take into account when I first took the measurements. would probably best giving the likes of Seapets a ring for exact dimensions of the "200"

That gives me hope, since the 300 is definitely longer than the 200 so anything less than 14 inches should be okay!  I think I will chance it and try to get my hands on one :)

A bit more detective work and the lamps for both models are the same length - both 30cm.  So there's probably not much difference.  From pictures I can see, it looks like the 200 might be about 12.5".  that should work for me :)

Thanks for your help!

Confirmed I found the dimensions for the V2 200 it's 13"x 5" x 3".  Just an inch shorter than the 300.

I've got the Eheim filter on order along with some new lighting and I'm shopping around for the Vecton UV unit.  Time to pimp my tank! :D

Kirky do you have your Vecton running constantly or can you switch it off at night to conserve power and prolong lamp life?

It's timed to be on for 15 hours a day.(of daylight hours) to prolong lamp life.
