Just found my Dwarf Gourami the wrong way up, so there is a vacancy in my tank.

Can't think what to fill it with.

The tank is 110l, currently populated with 6 Cardinal Tetra, 6 Pentazona Barbs, 7 Cherry Barbs and a gazillion Red Cherry Shrimp.

Water is hard, Ph of 7.6.

Give me some inspiration, people!!

Hmm... maybe a krib or two?

Sorry, not too good at stocking, so if that is a colossal mistake, heheh..

A half dozen dwarf rainbowfish would be very happy in that tank, however, you'd be pushing it in terms of bioload.

If you are looking for something a little different... a Bolivian ram (or even two) would work nicely as well.  They might take a nip or two at the cherry shrimp though, and will most definitely snap up the shrimplets...  maybe that's a plus if you are being over run by the cherries.

Shame I don't live closer to you... I'd make a fair offer for a dozen or so cherries.  Prices here are ridiculous, when you factor in shipping costs.

Yeah, not with the Shrimp.

I'm not overrun, but the DG helped there. Never been keen on ram, but maybe. Dwarf Rainbows, again maybe, but kinda wanted a centrepiece single fish.

Perhaps a pearl gourami then.

They not a bit too big, EA?

85L minimum...  3 feet long tank.   How long is your tank?

They get to nearly 5 inches... but they won't go after the fish in your tank... your shrimp on the other hand - again shrimplets will have a tougher time, but I think the adults would be fine.

Tank is 2.5feet or thereabouts. Quite wide though.

Hmm, maybe some of the smaller rainbowfish as Eagles suggest would be good, not Dwarf Neons but perhaps Forktail Blue Eyes or Spotted Blue Eyes, half a dozen of one of those might be an interesting addition.

If not, there are a whole host of small nano shoaling fish that fits your hard water and 7.6 ph, microrasboras, zebra danios, chili rasboras etc

Or even a small shoal of bottom dweller fish, like habrosus cories, or even some whiptail catfish.

Struggling to think of a single or pair of show center piece fish though if gouramis and rams are not your choices.

That would be pushing it then...

Betta no good with the barbs, so will have to think further.

Some that I have been impressed with, yet not a single show fish, pencil fish, the males spar at each other a lot and thus are interesting. Threading Rainbows, plus those already mentioned are great fish, Peacock Gudgeon, mine breed a lot.

Peacock Gudgeon will go after the cherries - the whole population got moved out from my 34l when I saw one of them go for an adult shrimp. It took me literally 6 months to move every single shrimp, I kept finding them hiding - there's plenty of plant cover in there.

I'm half-tempted to go for some platies - boring, I know, but they are colourful. Dunno, maybe I'll go window shopping this weekend!

Nothing boring about a platy, if you ask me.  Lovely fish.  Easy to maintain, easy to breed, lovely to look at, extremely active.   They are great starter fish for a reason, but that doesn't mean that they aren't great fish in general.

I had a pearl guorami for a couple years in a 29 gallon that did quite well until I had to give that whole tank when I moved. I think you would be fine with one of them.

Any updates TLM?

Did you go with the platies you were tempted for?
