The guy at my LFS showed me his small fish yesterday and there was some Rasbora's that were similar to Harlequins but not. I can not for the life of me remember their name. They had a more of an L shaped black mark rather than a lamb-chop mark (i hope this makes sense and i don't sound like im off my trolley). They also had a quite distinctive orange colouring to them.

I did a quick google search and just confused myself even more. I found a website that lists them as "Espe's Rasbora (Lambchop Rasbora ~ Espei Rasbora ~ Slim Harlequin ~ False Harlequin)".
Some pics stolen from google:

(are these two fish even the same kind of fish? o_O)

Are they called 'Epse's Rasbora'?
What are the recommended minimum numbers to get?
Whats the suggested size tank for them?
Are they actually smaller than a Harlequin when fully grown?

I don't know if they would fit in my tank, but i am curious about them

I have some espei's rasboras, Trigonostigma espei. There is also another very similar species, Trigonostigma hengeli which has the common names hengels rasbora and copper rasbora but you'd need to study pics to decide which the ones in the LFS were. They are both supposed to smaller than the harlequin.
I've not had mine very long so they are not full grown yet. Mine swim all over the tank. They chase one another but I've never seen them chase another fish. Two of them are more red than the others and also a slimmer build - males?
As for care of them, it's basically the same as for harlequins.

LOL! now im even more stumped!
I think i will have to look at the ones in the shop again and take note of what the guy tells me they are.
What size tank do you have them in? Do they shoal a lot?

They're the best schooling fish I've ever kept.

hengeli has an upside down orange nike tick
espei has a copper back ground with a black triangle

and hetamorpha is easy to disgtuingish.

espei is the smallest of the 3, hetamorpha the biggest.

I think they were Hengeli going on that description, Truck. There was a definate orange line that stood out above the black markings, not an over-all copper background.

I don't think they will, but i'll see if they could fit into my stock list when my cycle is done

the rasbora hengeli at some places they call them glowlight rasbora you dont need a big tank for them around 10 gallon is big enough

my tank isnt even 10 gallons :( thats the problem
i think its about 6 gallons? (30L). I want four Galaxy Rasboras and three cherry shrimp which is why i dont think the Hengeli's will fit in

Agree with Truck, here's a link with all three, http://www.bollmoraakvarieklubb.org/artiklar/Trigonostigma/trigonostigmaeng.htm

Did you end up putting the hengeli's into the 6gal? How did it work out. I ask because I am considering doing the same thing...Thanks!
