I'ved bought 6 of these 20x20x12 tanks which have part of them sectioned off for in house filtration.

I'm having a litle trouble working out how I'm meant to set it up, they came with various pipes and foams but there's no space at the bottom of the divider..

Cheers.

Hiya,

Looks like a bit of speedfit, and an air operated filter.

Has the green bit got an air connection? And is that a hole in the shorter of the two bits of pipe?

Mark.

Hey Mark,

Does look like a bit of a rush job to make it extra cheap.

yer the green bit on the right is just a bog standard algrade biofoam 45 filter, connect an airline to it and pulls water through the foam.

Yeh the shorter bit of piping has a single hole in 1 end.

Cheers Paul.

Well, the sponges look as if the pipes with the holes in them should fit in them, but they don't look like proper filter sponges I have to say.

One way I could possibly see it work is put the sponges, (if they are real open cell sponge), in the side room such that they divide the side room in two. Arrange the seperate pipes such that they form an upturned "U" shape, fill them with water and place one part of the "U" in the main tank, the other in the side room. Then put the Algarde in the side room, but arrange it so that it blows the water over the wall into the main tank.

Water will then flow from the main tank into the side room through the "U", be drawn through the sponges, then returned by the Algarde.

Bit Heath-Robinson, but I cant see another obvious way with what you have shown there to build a filter.

hmmm thanks for all your efforts i think the best way to filter these tanks is to cut the divider out and just use the algrade filters.

some of the foams with the other tanks look like proper filter sponges but your right the ones in this picture look like sofa foam.
