If you're really worried, you may want to try adding only 1 fish every week or two. It may seem slow, but it forces you to be much more cautious than you normally would.

Don't go to PetCo. I agree with you all there.

I must be lucky,my Petco has the healthiest of fish and very clean tanks. Every fish I bought there years ago are still alive. Whenever I go there, they hammer me with questions and ask me what fish I have in the tank and tell me which ones are best in schools and which ones are compatible/not compatible. Even tho I already know when I go in what I'm going to buy and whether or not I can have them in my tank,it's refreshing to know the people that work there know their stuff!

Now the lfs I go to owned by a little old lady she'll scoop it out and charge me without a word. lol I was so impressed with my Petco. :) I even signed on for a Petco Pals card!

 The Petco near me have a few employees that don't have any fish knowledge. One person didn't know the difference between male and female mollies and another told me gourmais are very agressive and should only be kept with their own kind. I know a fish breeder and she's willing to give me some free fish that she breeds.

;) I don't think the frogs are what causing the probelms and they are African Drawf frogs. They are less than an inch long and only stay on the botton, which is good since they don't bother the fish. I'm going to stop buying fish from Petco and see how other fish from different pet stores do, but I still don't have any explaination to what's causing so many fish to die suddenly. Thank you all for you help! :)

lol sasha those fish people must not be to smart. Are you sure you dechlorinated ur water and cycled? Yea the frogs may be the problem. Some paces are good others stink.

I am sorry to hear about your troubles and I can sympathise and empathise as I have been having problems recently.

I hope you can get through it.

((((Hugs))))
me too. we are here holding your fin, I mean hand..........

:/ The fish just ignore the frogs, so I don't know what the probelm is. The tank was established for more than a year and I always dechlorinate the water before adding it into the tank. My best solution is that the fish I'm buying aren't really heathly and I'm going to try to get them for other pet stores and see how they do. ;)

Hi Sasha :)

If your tank has been established for that long without problems, it could very well be a problem you are bringing in from your lfs.

It might be best if you wait a few weeks, to be sure that whatever is going on in your tank is over, before you add any more fish. Get your tank healthy with whatever fish you still have.

In this time, you will have given it a few good cleanings, changed a lot of the water and hopefully broken the cycle of bad luck you are going through.

I really hope you get over this soon! :D

;) I'm going wait a couple weeks and see how things goes with my tank before adding any new fish. It'll help the remaining fish get over whatever it was that was causing the probelm.

:) Look at my signature and you'll see what kinds of fish I have in the 29 gallon tank. Here's a list of the fish that died since the beginning of the month, so you'll know what kinds have been passing away. Prepare for a long list!

 The fish that died this month were:
5 black mollies
2 balloon mollies
2 swordtails
1 platy
2 male guppies
1 African Frog (sadly got caught in the filter!) :-(
