I have cycled my 20 gal tank without fish for approx 6 weeks. We bought 2 small guppies and 2 black molly's All seemed great when I placed them into their new home. I woke up the next morning to finding 4 tiny black molly's darting around the tank...... Well, I ran to a friends house that has a few tanks and got several water plants for purpose of hiding. We left for the day to golf and when we returned there were a total of 14 little molly's...... One of the adult molly's is now staying at the top and seems to be hiding. I watched her eat and she sucks in food then blows it back out. What is going on with her? I do not know if she is the one that brought the the family with her or not but I'm worried about her. Everyone else seems happy. I did do water checks and all seems fine. Thoughts???????

Update..... The molly has returned to normal, Im now worried maybe both mollies were expecting......... NOOOOOOOOOOO, I have no ideal what I'm suppose do with them.

oky you can get a small bucket fill it with water that conditioned. try to catch the fry(baby fish) and put them in there. after that add some plants for hiding and have setup until you can get a filter (sponge filters are best). the food you can feed them is powdered fish flakes.

or

take the fry and dumped into a fry net like this one. the fry net is inside the tank.

or

just leave them in the main tank

If you are not dead set on trying to keep all of them alive I recommend leaving them in the tank, nature will take its course and the strongest will survive. As long as you have plants/hiding places.

What a lovely way to start building up the fish population in your tank :fish::fish: :)

You can buy food especially made for fry. It comes out in small particles, so it's easy for them to eat. We've got some for liver bearers (we have swordtails).

Good luck wiht the babies!
