Take a look at the fish i already have below. They are great but now i want something to bring some bright colour to the tank that is compatible with the fish i already have and my hard water supply.

Thought about getting a few swordtails or zebra danios - maybe some kribensis. Are there any fish i could get that i could leave in the tank if they spawned - not quite ready for a breeding tank yet but would love to breed.

Hmmm, just cant make my mind up

Obviously it is all down to personal preference but - Would really value your input folks!!!

The swordtails will give you almost instant breeding satisfaction :D Do you plan on keeping the fry or letting the current residents have a snack? :shifty: I have also had zebras and angel fish breed in a community tank. Good luck with your selection :)

Livebearers are nice but if you want some real color get some german blue rams. They are a peaceful cichlid that will spawn in the tank but wont be aggro and take over half of it like with kribs. They are a little sensitive to water chemistry but it's probably nothing you couldn't handle...

If you don't know what a ram is I have a pic on my sig...

You can also go for rainbowfish. They're easy to care for and they don't get too big. Plus there are tons of varieties.

Why do you want danios if you plan on adding color to your tank? I find them rather drab, though they're fun to watch and add activity.

if u gave me this tank wuwahahha..lol

i would have sum.....

kuli loaches (so cute)

some platty to breed

zebras to add activity

a school of ottos (6?)

and then...well that's all i currently want anyways..for me!

That depends on the type of danio and how well you take care of them.

Happy and healthy pearl danios are pretty amazing to look at... as are glolight danio (bracydanio choprae).

Regardless of your opinion on danios, Rob, I would definitely urge you to go for a middle to upper level schooling fish next.

Some obvious candidates:
Rasboras (Harlequins for example)
Danios (mentioned above)
SOME barbs (cherry barbs, for example, are both hardy, peaceful, and colorful)
Rainbows (bigger, but quite impressive)
Congo tetras

Depending on just how alkaline your water is, you might want to avoid the more sensitive tetras, like neons or rummy-nosed. Most fish will adapt to your conditions if you keep them stable.

Hopefully that helps... Good luck!

agreed, I love my guppies, and I want more...more....more....Birthday is on 22 April folks...any guppy donations would be AWESOME!!!!
