I'm Not Wrong... Am I?

Well I use stability from seachem. I did this the first time and again this time. Ammonia well who knows how that is going to be as against fish ammonia......
How much do you add? It burns it scolds etc it may work and cost a few bob but why not use your own source of ammonia? Even cheaper.
As for fish flakes that too is the same as it's not living is it...although nearer to the end product.
Seachem have proved tried and tested their product so maybe the ones against it should write and complain with evidence to the high court and sue for treating the public wrong.
The lfs maybe selling but hey thats why they are in the buisness.
Trying to argue with a young shop girl only states neither of you know what you are talking about. One could have giving your opinion quietly, as no doubt , one will say I should too.

I didn't argue with her, but you can bet the store will get a letter from me because of her rudeness. I don't care of my idea conflicts with someone else's but good lord, be respectful of me in the process. Customer service was lacking.

Anywho, I think I found ammonia today... didn't list ingredients, but doesn't do anything when you shake it. Now to wait for my heaters................

I've been on a quest for a few days now to find pure ammonia. No where that I've looked seems to carry it. Tomorrow I continue my quest; however, I went to the local pet store, which shall remain nameless, today to just see if they had any. I thought, "Hey, they sell fish, maybe they know about fishless cycling and have the right kind of stuff!" wrong. I couldn't have been more wrong, actually. The girl proceeded to tell me that I was sorely mistaken, made me feel like a moron, and pointed out some bacteria in a bottle. I tried to tell her they couldn't be alive anymore- what survives in a bottle?! After feeling about as dumb as the gravel in my tank, I walked off while she was talking.... never to go back.

I'm not wrong with the fishless cycle, am I? I mean, I've read up quite a bit on how to do this, and what I need- and feel like I'm really ready (once I find the ammonia) to do this.... and although I know she's mistaken, and was way out of line how she spoke to me today... I'm doubting myself. Fishless cycles *are* the best thing, aren't they? I'm not doing this wrong, am I? I just want the best for my fish.
My LFS is popular on this board and in Practical Fish Keeping magazine, has excellent stock and service, but has never heard of fishless cycling either. I'm new to fishies, but fishless cycling worked exactly as discussed on this board and my fish seemed happy from day one :)

Am sure my LFS would look at me like I'd grown an extra head if I mentioned it, but it does work and it is the quickest and kindest way to do it.
Some types of bacteria are able to live in "suspended animation"... like in those (rip off IMO) probiotic yogurt drinks, and yogurt generally. However, most of the stuff sold in pet stores does absolutely nothing - I've tried (but not bio-spira!).
