I'm not quite sure what I'm doing, I don't really go on forums, but I have a new, tall corner 55-gallon freshwater tank (originally meant for angelfish) which now houses:

3x adult molly ( 3-3.5 inches) {all female}
3*x baby molly (maybe 1/4 inch? born less than a month ago, I think) [*I'm unsure how many there are because they're translucent, fast, and hard to count with the guppies in a moving school) {unknown sex}
10x guppy (varying ages and sizes, the adults are up to 1.5 inches) {combined males and females}
1x swordtail guppy {male}
1x Chinese algae eater (4-5 inches) {unknown sex? he/him pronouns}
1x striped Raphael catfish (around 3 inches, he hides so I never see his entire body at once) {unknown sex? he/him pronouns}
2x unknown species of blue-and-black vertically striped cichlids; (1-2 in.) short black dorsal fins that end in a point parallel to their flukes, which are a translucent dark grey (as with their pectoral fins) {both male}
1x adult mystery snail
3*x baby mystery snails [*probably higher number but unknown, the snails often hide in and behind plants and decorations, and burrow or get covered by others and camouflage in the sand]
unknown # of various small cone-shaped snail species, unsure how many shells in the tank are occupied because the tank came second-hand with the sand and snails already established

This is my first tank since childhood and although the idea of owning a fish tank was planned and researched, the purchase of this particular tank was not, it just happened to be the perfect opportunity for my roommate's fish who grew into unexpected goliaths and crowded his freshwater 30 gallon. It's 5 days old at the time of writing this and the fish have settled into their little social ranks, with the stars being the very erratic algae eater affectionately named Nuts, and the curious, friendly mollies. All but the guppies were previous tankmates and have existing relationships, the guppies having been tankmates with each other, but not the other species. The catfish, Craig, has one spot and stays there, and the other fish just understand that's his spot and they don't try to take it. The mollies explore in a group but like to hang out around the wall with the heater and filter, they just swim past guppies without a care and sometimes challenge the territorial cichlid (the other is very shy) when he's being a bully. The shy cichlid has a spot under a sponge filter where he stays most of the time, but I see him take hesitant laps around the tank when traffic is low. The guppies all live in a school at the top of the tank with the baby mollies, with some sparse floating plants, the adult mollies and the less shy cichlid take up the middle of the tank most of the time, and the bottom third is housed by the catfish, shy cichlid, Nuts, and the snails, which move around the tank throughout the day. All fish have plenty of room to swim and frequently explore the whole tank without aggression or adversity, besides Nuts speeding around and splitting up the occasional school.
