That's what I hope to find out, if it's squishy then it's likely alive, if it's hard I am guessing at Sps skeleton.

My thoughts exactly but also poss a dead sponge even if it is squishy? I know curtain sponges that go like tht wen it dies too.

sorry for the late reply, had a busy night putting more lr in, now got about 9.5k (including my filter full of rubble, also added my nano power head. i now have about 24x turn over, do you think this will be enough/to much?

in relation to the "thing", its solid and aint moving, feels more like rock than anything else.

and look what came with my lr last night from p@h....

i know nothing about it except its generic name.

got a pom pom crab today, could not resit

and finally my tank now finished (except for a fish and shrimp of some sort).

ill start a journal over the weekend.

Oh dear that cucumber may be a problem unless it gets a positive ID, I know very little about them TBH so hopefully someone else can sort that out for you.

Nice find on the pompom but try to use patience when stocking, inverts (anemones even more so) are very fickle about water parameter swings and in a new tank it's gonna happen alot.
He should be fine though, my pompom lives in a tank with water like soup.

So finally the 'thing', if it looks like a rock and feels like a rock I would say it is quite possibly a rock.

from the reading i have done about the cucumber i think its a tiger, can grow upto 6ft in the wild. will eat almost anything and should not be a problem except for its size.

i was uncertain about getting the pom pom but i would not be going back to the lfs in the near future...from what i've read about them i'm worried about him dropping his anemones (general opinion seems to be wait a year from introducing anemones).

i won't be adding anymore stock now for 3 weeks or so (well my water stats will guide me).

the "thing" had a another feel so to speak and although solid, does not feel like my LR. it does look lifeless though...so who knows..
