Hey guys & gals~

How have you all been? Good I hope!

Well. I am moving this saturday, and I am wondering what is the best way for me to Move my tank? I still only have my two little fishys in my 25 gallon. And I would like to find a easy for them (fishys) way to be moved. I want them to like there new home as much as I do! Thanks!!!!!!

Hi there

Wishing you luck with your move! Are you moving a long distance or no?

I moved about 8 months ago a trip that was 500 miles (9 hour drive with kids lol)
At the time I only had my 10g. but no fish besides a betta. I put him in a glass jar filled with tank water. The thing I worried most about was the good bacteria dying off and have to recycle the tank ( I'm not patient lol) I found that keeping the gravel wet saved me from having to totally re do the whole process. Try to take as much of the tank water with you if possible ( large new plastic trash can) & keep your filter media wet also.

I'm sure someone else will give better advice but this may get you started. Good Luck!

do a search, there were two other posts on this topic that i remember, and they got some very good and helpful responses................

I've moved twice with my fish so maybe I can help. We drain all the water out of the tank leaving the gravel in. Just sit the filter in the aquarium. The last move I put fish in small coolers with the water that's from their tank. Move them as little as possible and fast as possible. Make sure they don't get cold. The first move I just put them in plastic bags and had someone hold them. Just make sure you have everything planned out in your head so you don't waste time. Good luck! :D

hi. your best bet would be to get hold of some food grade containers to put your tank water in for transportation. secondly nip down to your local aquatic store and ask them if they have any polystyrene fish box's,also some fish bags to bag em up. i got my containers from a camping shop and the fish box's i picked up only cost me pence so its worth asking. hope that helps.
