I'm getting the BiUbe set up again.

I was thinking about putting in one of the following;

1) A single Siamese fighting fish, maybe with a couple of small fish.
2) A pair of goldfish
3) A pair of German Rams - Then move them into my bigger tank when they get bigger
4) Fill it with male Guppies
5) Fill it with black widow tetras, rasboras, rummy nose tetras etc.
6) Fill it with tiger barbs

My dad really wants to have the siamese fighting fish. I m swaying towards either the goldfish or the guppies myself.

What would you guys (and gals) do?

1 - yes to the Betta with shrimp or such
2 - No
3 - No
4 - Dont care
5 - Some of them not all
6 - No

Biubes have very small surface areas, thus you can only stock them very lightly

It's not big enough for even 1 goldfish let alone 2 so I would say a definite no on that idea. I would probably go with the betta or the male guppies.

Definitely NOT goldfish, any of the varieties would grow too big. I think a group of male guppies in a striking colour would be nicest - my LFS has some lovely electric blue coloured ones in at the moment and they look awesome in a big group. :good:

Ditto - nowhere near enough room for goldies!
I think a betta and a snail / couple of otos or similar would be happiest.

hey you live about 40 mins away from me :D yeah agree with above what size iz the buibe??

Awesome :good: . Nice to see some Welshies on the forum.

The biUbe is 35 liters I think. Not very big.

To DarkEntity: What did you mean when you put - "Don't Care" as your thought on the guppies?

Well, Guppy imo are a virus, born pregnant and all they do is breed, plus the fact im intending to breed some purely as live foods, i dont see them as a fish worthy of a tank to themselves or keeping in general.

A betta with an apple snail and a few otos would be very nice IMO or instead of guppies you could do a group of all male endler's livebeares - I much prefer these to guppies.

I wouldn't!

Guppies have fancy tails and the betta may see them as competition and chow down on them readily.

I haven't had any joy with housing male bettas with anything other than themselves and a few shrimp and snails. It's very much down to the individual betta really but it's best to have a plan B just in case. Some peeps have joy where others don't.

I'd stick to fish like hengels rasboras, small tetras (neons like a well matured tank), dwarf neon rainbowfish etc :D

A largeish shoal of endlers would look lovely. You could go for all males or mixed sexes, 10 or so in total in a tank like that ought to be ok if it is properly cycled. They are a beautiful colour and always on the move. They are livebearers, however, and the fry seem not to be bothered by the adults. Just make sure you have a plan for the new offspring you may even be able to trade them in at the shop for some food.

Get a few basic low light plants in there too such as java fern on bogwood or anubias nana. I had these in my biorb and they grew well.

Hi, I'm probably a bit late replying to this thread  but as I recognise some of the contributors --they may know me as Lynda--I will add that lots of really small fish are very good in the BiUbe, the majority of mine are Dwarf/[Strawberry]Rasbora they only grow to about 1.5.cms and are very entertaining, I also have various Tertra and a couple of Zebra Danios.
Cheers
