I have been trying to set up my halide tonight and needless to say and really really p****d off! APS never responded to me so I bought it in the hope it works. Turns out you can only hang the hooks 5cm max from the edge but my arcadia unit isnt quite long enough, there is about 7inches gap (extimate by eye) The pole is bowing in the middle but so far its still there haha!

Here is a quick pic:

I am leaving it on the floor hanging as if it falls at least it wont smash my tank! Do you think if its still ok by tomorrow night I should be safe ish to put it on my tank? I have no other wayto hang it. Or should I maybe wedge a bit of wood on the centre brace bar of my tank under the light just to take a little bit of weight?
I think I need some help with this!

I wouldnt want it hanging on that pole like that over my tank weather it survives the night on the floor or not! Cant you change the pole for a stronger one from b&q or something? Like a wardrobe clothes pole or metal broom handle.

Yeah I could do if I can find the right diameter! What would be the best pole to get? Would the end bits be ok still or replace those poles too?
Thank you :D

You got a picture of the gap where the tank is Weez?
Is there a hood on your tank?
Has the light got to be down below the hood level?
Is the tank braced?

I have my light unit on acrylic bars across the tank, is that possible?
You could buy some of the metal cups that are used for wardrobe hanging rails, and then I would maybe put 2 poles up and spread the load.

I ripped the hood apart so just have the frame and no lid or flaps on the top but have the main frame, the reason for this is the plastic brackets that are meant to go on the glass tank won't as I have no lip on the top due to the brace bars. So it is sitting on the wooden frame then going onto the tank.

Right some pictures...

Haha! It was on top of the tank before I took the lid off! :D Dont worry its safe and won't move unless an idiot knocks it! :D

I am waiting to get the lights sorted to get the electric leads position correct! lol! They are all over the place atm!

Its ok :D No fish to kill yet anyway...

In all seriousness though, I need to find somewhere to put it as the powerhead leads are really short so hardly reach anywhere else!

I need to sort out the light first though! Is it a wooden or metal pole Im looking for?

i would go to b&q and get the thickest wooden curtain pole you can find. but sort your electrics first, forget the fish do you know what would happen to you if you accidentally dropped that lead in there

Only if my hands were in there at the time! And when Im in the tank everything gets turned off and unplugged as Im worried about killing myself :D

Appreciate the concern though :D
