I'm a bit worried about Tango, one of my bettas. He's not active like all the others and he normally just stays at the top of his tank (not swimming around). I thought at first it was stress, and it still may be, but I haven't a clue what it could be. He was swimming vertically in the beginning but that stopped the day after I brought him home.

Does anybody have any ideas on what it is and what I can do? It'd be most appreciated. Thanks! :)

maybe he is cold. what size tank is he in? does he have a heater? how did you change the water (you DID put conditioners in, right?)? did you let him adjust before dumping him in the new water? how long have you had him?

He lives in a tank that is about 1.5 gallons. He does not have a heater on his tank but the water is always warm - I have rodents and the "bedroom bettas" live in the same room, so it is always warm enough in there. Yes, I did put the dechlorinater in the tank. I let him adjust to the water about 30 minutes before I added him to the tank. I have had him since Friday, and I know that is not a long time but the other betta I bought with him is very active and always swimming around.

He seems to be doing a bit better today, BTW.

Some bettas aren't that active, my Levi never has been and he is perfectly healthy and build great nests, but otherwise just hangs around. Is Tango eating? That's a good thing to look at...

you proba bly just got a sick betta  i would add some aquarium salt if you dont already have it in there. if he is sick, his water needs to be extra warm. water temp is a few degrees lower than room temp so your room would have to be 80-85 minimum.
glad hes doing a little better:)

yes i also have a betta who just lays around and has ever since the day i got him. he is also perfectly healthy (as far as i know) :)

Good luck with him, Acrobit

Maybe he needs a female to cheer him up. ;) One of my male's was looking a little sad, but perked right up after the female moved in next door :p
