Ifti's [Long] Fishless Cycle.....

Will miss todays test and will test every other day until I see something starting to happen.

Can see my ammonia test result get slightly lighter now......

Is the ammonia supposed to drop really slowly, or should I notice a sudden drop?

I have been adding a ml or so of Filter Start every few days, just because I have a bottle. Not sure if it does anything but didnt think it could do any harm. Maybe Im not using enough though - literally just putting in 1-2ml every few days.....

Hi lfti, i personally do not think filter start does anything. I put a whole bottle in during my first attempt at a fishless cycle and nothing happened. The Ammonia drop will start gradually and then become quicker as your cycle progresses.

Do you have the Fish Box X by any chance?

I have just done a 100% water change on my tank, i hope your cycle goes smoothly i will keep popping back to check and give any advice that i can ;)

Yes mate - I have exactly the same as you, but in black.
I have black gravel in mine as well - will try get a pic or two up ;)

I'm a noob, but learning a lot quickly. I'm nearing the end of my cycle now, It took close to 3 weeks for my ammonia to drop to zero. I had it stall around 2 ppm for awhile and was given advice not to dose and to be patient as it will eventually drop.

Cheers fella - patience is not one of my strong points though! lol

Im still hanging in there.................just!! lol

So tempted to just do a water change and stick a Betta in now!!
Must not lose patience. Must continue. Must.......!

You can do it - hang in there! The fishless cycleness will happen.

This is REALLY testing my patience now.

Considering scrapping everything and starting a fish-in cycle instead!

Based on your log I'd say your first drop to zero ammonia will be around day 24, if you can hang in there. And, yes, that is just a guess based on other logs I have seen! So many factors can change the outcome.

Still no change - thinking my water test kit must be broke!!
lol
