Hi, I didn't really ever find out what was ailing my Angel, it started out like ick but then began to look more like something bacterial. I did water changes and began treatment for both, but on day 3 she died. The other angel in this ten gallon tank is fine. I am still treating the tank in case he has also gotten it, is this correct????

She was new to the tank, and was a bit harrassed at first, and had the old AND new heater malfunction, so her system couldn't fight off what had her. But he has been in that tank alone quite a while, and so is probably just dealing better with these things because he is still healthy. Shall I continue? How long till it would be considered safe to add him to my 45 g?

Before typing anything else, I want to let you know that this is my opinion, and what I would do. People might think different about this, and I'm not sure what would be best.

How long ago did your other fish die but have you been treating the tank for still? I think it really couldnt hurt to keep treating for an extra couple of days (about 4) after seeing the last signs of ich in your tank. Once everything seems clear for about a week, it would be save to stop treating the tank, just keep a close eye on it all so you can jump in incase things might get worse again.

Also, if your angel was being picked on by other fish, this is probably what caused the ich on this fish and why it didnt really show up on your other fish. Stress is the main cause of ich, and I think that would be your explanation on why she got it

Wait at least 2 more weeks before moving your angel, its best to give him a lot of time in quaranteen incase he turned out to not be completely heathly yet. After 2 weeks though, he ought to be fine to get moved into the bigger tank

She died Friday, and I have kept treating all weekend. He still looks good. I agree a couple weeks sounds safe. I also want him to be the last one to go into the big tank, he is so territorial. Treating with aqua-sol for ich and pima fix, for internal and external bacterial infections. LFS said it was a natural medicine, not sure what that means, but better somehow???

Anyway, thanks anyone else want to weigh in on this question?

I would say don't rush to move the angel. Bacterial infections can look like they are cleared uo and then come back if you stop treating to soon. They can also then be more resistant to treatment. If it was Ick, it's always a good idea to treat for several more days after all sign of it is gone.
