Ok I'm the one having trouble with the acidic water... UG! Anyway, I wake up this morning and one of my cory cats has a white patch just above his gills on one side. What could this be? I've read a little about ICH but it keeps refering to many tiny white spots, this patch I'm seeing is about the size of two of his eys balls and it almost looks to me like he has rubbed against something & abrased his skin. He is acting normal as are all the other fish. I do not see this patch or spots of any kind on any of the other fish. I'm losing it, I get so worried about these fish & it seems like every day it's something new. UG! :S

Hi JessiMommy. As long as the little guy is acting fine, don't worry. It is VERY possible he and his friends got into a chase and he scraped on a rock or something. I had my big black angefish try to get away from the nasty syphon (silly fish  ) and scrape himself pretty good on a piece of driftwood. I felt HORRIBLE, since basically I caused it. But, since my tank is kept clean and he is healthy, just one week with no meds or anything and you can't even tell he got hurt :fish:

I know what you mean about worrying over your fish. I feel the same way about all my critters :)

Make sure it doesn't look fuzzy or fluffy. It's probably not ich, but it could be a type of fungus or bacterial parasite. If it is just a scrape, then a nice clean, healthy environment and a long talk about swimming safety ;) should heal him up nicely.
