If I was to upgrade my aquarium can I start anew and use new sand?

40 breeder, hands down...nice footprint, and easy to work with...just make sure you have a sturdy stand for it

Oh I got a sturdy stand 😉
Can't believe my mom is letting me use it 🤣🤣

Can I ask why the 40 breeder? The 65 seems like a really good option if I play it right... I can stock all levels without it being too crowded and sense it's on a lower base (stand) so it will be high and easier to look at

I'm one of those people who doesn't care much about gallons. It's the luxury of having a liking for small fish.
In my world view, there are 16 inch, 20 inch, 24, 36, 48, etc. I have 4 foot 40s, and 4 foot 75s.
If I want to be fancy, I have the same tanks in metric.

I can see the point with 4 footers. I find breeder tanks to be kind of shallow for their front to back depth. I broke a 55 in my move, and it was a great shape and height.

I, like others here, avoid the tall tanks when I can...easier maintenance

The 40 breeder is 18 inches high so not too shallow but if I want a deep sand bed and a good viewing height, the 65 seems really nice. 40 breeder is if I really feel like I can't afford the 65

Yes... Easier maintenance... I know... That is a very good selling point lol.
But the python won't have me using buckets... And I also have long gloves.

But more and more thinking about this the 40g is sounding better

I have 5 inches of sand in my 40B

FairmountSantrol AquaQuartz-50 Pool Filter 20-Grade Silica Sand 50 Pounds
Pool filter sand is usually perfectly fine although I'm uncertain about this brand - however, in order to function in a pool filter, it has to have sufficient permeability fo water to pass through.

Not the best pics, sorry....but hopefully enough to get the general idea

In the reviews a ton of people are using it for their aquarium and it looks really nice...

Not all sand is the same and it depends upon the intended fish.
