Have been trying to achieve a nice green-carpeted plant on my soft gravel substrate. But I can't since every carpet I got need 3 day shipping day so this is what I do
Basically I toss java moss leftover to the tank.
And I know I am going to regret this sooner or later and vacuum the java moss up.

Yep I'm serious. If all of the moss was gone the yard would be mostly dirt. It's just grass growing In the moss

I agree totally. But it will be hard to gravel vacuum. And extra food can get caught.

I like how it looks! Especially on the branch. You could make a nice thick patch of it somewhere and that may be more manageable. Gravel is okay, too.
Nature has different landscapes so your tank can, too!
