Idiots Guide To Sumps Needed

I need some more stuff to worry about, so I'm thinking of adding a sump to my 55g tall tank.

I've gone through the archives which has scared me silly.

Is there anything out there anyone recommends to explain the basics?

Yup Melevs is a very good site. I wouldn't go to all the arse ache of building a perspex one though. I just got an old 24 x 18 x 12 tank for £5, put some glass baffles in it and voila.. one sump with refugium for about £12 in all.

Absoloutely. His flash diagram showing how it works is a HUGE help though

melev reef helped me out loads but at the end of the day i came up with an idea , then posted it on here too see what people think. they pointed me in the right direction (thanks ski ) and the sump works great. only after you build it and work with it for a yea will you know how to build your next one LOL . at the moment i hate mine but that is cos i am a fool and keep leaving the dam RO on . but the next one will be much better LOL
