Identify This Cichlid Asap

i've set up a 65 litre today for my small fish such as guppies, tetras and platies

these will be in a 340 litre 4ft with

2 plecos
1 clown loach
1 red tail shark
2 small talking catfish
2 angel fish
2 opaline gourami
3 rams and a female kribensis
3 torpedo barbs

iwould like to keep my 5 cherry barbs in for now

Festivums like going for eyes of other fish aswell as fins. Would have been far better with keyholes without a doubt. I would take them back again and tell them you are not happy and want some money off of them for the hassle.

And your stocking is a bit off imo.

I would remove the clown loach as they grow to about a foot long and should be in groups of 6 minimum.
Not sure on the torpedo barbs but like other barbs, they are shoalers and should be in 6 minimum.
Not sure on the rest.

i had a 2 clown loaches but 1 died so i bought another as company. the new loach bullied the other to death (it was slightly smaller, not much) so i have had this one on its own for 3 months and it seems to have teamed up with my Red tail shark and is very happy. if it gets too big i will rehome.

do not use pets at home!

my first tank, i was VERY new to the hobby, they sold me 2 shrimp and 2 what i think to be chinese algae eaters, the 2 shrimp died (fairly sure they got eaten by the 2 CAE and one of the CAE died as well not long after i got it.

saying this they're the only place i could find firemouths so i got 2 from them today, i even picked the 2, the women bagged them for me, lucky i checked in side the brown bag, she had put 2 rams in there.

oops i edited my post. all my locals are great places except my closest PAH.

The best advice is to do all research before you step foot in any LFS, then research the LFS before you buy. It doesn't matter which chain or locally owned store you frequent ... there are good and bad in both categories, and we simply shouldn't be naming them on the forum as the owner of this forum could get in serious trouble. If you must name a store, use the PM.

I'm looking at the OP's stocking and it's in dire need of reworking. Do your research and find out which species get along together, how many of each you should have for a comfortable shoal, what the ideal water parameters are, etc.

And for heaven's sake, don't leave picking out your fish to the LFS staffer!! They don't want to spend all that time picking out specific fish, so when your back is turned they'll likely grab whatever is slowest!

i had a pair of kribs but the male died about 3 weeks ago, the female has latched onto the bolivian rams and swims with them. i have 3 torpedo barbs but i intend to get more.

any fish other than the loach that need attention. ?

my other tank is running now and i am moving fish in early in the next week

pets at home strike again..
it's fun to ask questions that are simple as, and see how they answer.

festivums are incredible- mine was so docile.
seems that's not always the way
