Yes they can be a bit aggressive,

had them as a pair yes, one is 2 inch the other about 1 1/2 inch

if there ok in the tank with

1 x 8" black pebble catfish
2 x 8" common plecs
1 x 7" gold algie eater
2 x 5" clown loaches
4 x 2 1/2" clown loaches
1 x 8" albino oscar

everything is ok at moment but wat ive read in a short time sugests they will live up to there name.
I do hove a spare 60 ltr tank set up as hospital tank, cycled with plants so might wait and see how there behaviour develops but dont know will wory about clowns i think.

if I kept them seperate wat size of tank would I need for 2 ??

the oscar might punk the GTs for a while, but once they get big enough it will prolly change...also GTs get fairly big, 8 inches i think it is...so they need about a 55 gallon minimum i would say...i've never kept them but this is what i've seen recommended

yea will mull it over might trade them for couple more clowns

thanx. :good:

Wow they're really that small? they look a lot bigger in the pic, i.e.4-5inches
But if they really are that small then i doubt they are a pair, if so then once they do indeed get to 5-6 inches and mature you may find one gets attacked.

I know nelly has one in with his Oscars and I suppose you may find one GT will get on with your existing tankmates but they only real way of finding out if it works is to try it. Personally I wouldn't really be keeping two in one tank unless they were in a species tank and were an established pair.

Tanksize for an established pair is going to be 55USG at the very least, if they aren't a pair then even in a 100USG you can't be guaranteed that they would get on once they matured

Edit: you may need to watch the Oscar with the Clowns, Oscars grow at a rate of about 1inch per month whereas my clown loach have grown at about 1inch per 6-8months over the past year and a half, if the new clowns are too small, the Oscar may well get big enough to consider them as food

do you think one would be ok ? is it more likely is wat im asking or do you think I should just trade them in ? just interested in your opinion, no pressure

With larger cichlids there are no certainties at the best of times, but I'd definitely try to keep one,

adding one is going to be much more likely to work, with two there is always the chance of them pairing and attacking other fish or the dominate taking a dislike to the lesser one.

I'd watch them for a while and see if you can work out if they are M/F and/or which is the most dominant, Females are generally less aggressive and as they are at a very young age they might learn to get on with your other stock.

i think that keeping one would be fine i personally would keep the male they look stunning depending on what type of rivalatus it is as the silver saums dont get as colourful as the gold saums
