thats what i thought originally, but the lfs put doubt in my mind selling them as sterba, and now i see that they have gold patches behind the black bits over there eyes?! definitely not sterba thoguh

I doubt it's loxozonus. The lines don't merge at the tail in these fish and these lack the thick stripe loxozonus have. I have had both sterbai and schwartzi so I know first hand what both look like and these are fairly identical to schwartzi. A good side view would confirm it though.
