getting some fish for my 60L tank tommorow, was wondering what to get? i like japenese fighting fish, and was thinking a few shrimp would be ok if i got a few more plants for them to hide? can you keep small crabs with fish in the same tank?and i was thinking of getting one rare quite expensive fish to put in the tank, any ideas :D?

Shrimp would be nice in that size tank. Not that I've ever kept them. Would some easy livebearers like Guppys interest you for the fish side of things?

yeahh, if i could have a betta with them? and maybe some neon fish or some of those small shark like fish( sorry im a newb)?

Well if you were interested in a betta and an expensive fish, then there are some absolutely stunning - and rather expensive - bettas out there; you can expect to pay upwards of £20 for one, which is enough when you can get one for 1/4 or 1/5 of that price at your lfs. I personally may find a tank that size with only one betta rather empty - can you get giant bettas? I've heard of them, but I think they're more of a plakat-like fish than a halfmoon, crowntail or doubletail (and all other bettas with long fins).

You wouldn't be able to keep guppies with them, as the bettas can mistake them for fellow males, though some have had sucess with neons. It all depends on the temperment of the betta, though. Some can tolerate a lot more than others. You could always go down the female betta route and have around 8 females in there - that may look nice :) As for the shark, you wouldn't get one in a 60L - you'd need a much larger tank for that I think. You could have some cories in there though, but this may be a bit risky if you go down a betta route!

Neons and guppies could make a nice commumity tank - maybe 10 neons and 5 male guppies? You could add some shrimp for extra intrest too I guess :)

Would a Betta be ok with shrimp tho? I'm not sure. Maybe ask in the separate Betta forum.
