So I have my used 55 gallon cleaned up and I am ready to start setting it up and getting the cycle going. The main focus of the tank is my electric blue lobsters. It is to be thier domain so I would like to tailor it to them when I pick my decor. At the moment I am thinking sand for a substrate with an area of river rocks. I am going to use pieces of slate and the river rocks with some other stones I have to try and make natural caves for them.
I will have to do plastic plants Because I cant afford to keep replaceing the live ones when they get munchy. But I am gonna get some small weighted clamps that I hook stalks of akkris(think thats the name) in for them so they do have some live plants to chew on. I do Intend on an almost forest like densly planted section between the two.

I was curious If any one here has any other suggestions for the tank I would love to hear them.

Oh and for tank mates they will have fancy guppies, mollys, mystery snails and ghost shrimp. They have lived with those four species for 5 weeks now in my 29 gallon and not hurt any of them so I think thats what we are going to try and stick with.

There should be adequate hiding places, such as rock ledges or simply pieces of pvc large enough for hiding places, i personally would get ahold of duckweed and grow this across the top,my old electric blue prefered the tank with dull lighting,

Yeah mine seem to realy like when I turnm on the night light in the 29 gallon they are in now. The 55gallon tank currently has a typical lighting system for an aquarium. I may get some plexi glass and a clampable led set up for it so it can have night lights like the one they are in now. I will have to fabricate whatever I do because fish stores charge a ton for light syetems and hardware stores they are cheap.

i got a reptile cave for mine, he loved it! I found he found the plants were lucky to last a day and then they wud b floatin around pulled and not so much eaten or he'd block the entrance to the cave p.s. We ended up gettin the large size cave as he got to 10in and he also climbed up the filter and escaped lolol Enjoy!

Yeah they are brilliant excape artists I am going to fit plexi glass over all the gaps in the back of my tank. When we first got them the female jumped in the airator bubbles and rode em to the top so she could grab the hose and started poking the lid. So I lowerd my water lvl a half inch.

Mine currently have 3 caves in thier tank the 55 will have about 9 or so at various heights.
