Idea For The Buy And Swap Board

When an item has been sold/found the topic owner leaves a post asking the moderators to delete the topic, this way only active topics are kept.

Just an idea from our uni board that seems to work quite well.

It would be nice if people would put the location in the description also.. It's probably already in the rules.... people just don't seem to do it..

Mods deleting every topic which has been finished with, its too much work. You will often find the objects still for sale at the top of the pile "bumped" by the seller, in the first few pages, items beyond that, or threads which finish up (ie item sold) tend to sink to the later pages anyway.

Some boards im familiar with, members place the following in the title:

WTB = Wanted to Buy
FS= For Sale
SOLD = Obvious, LOL (Accomplished by the member editing the original post).

This would be alot simpler, but getting everyone to co-operate is a different topic all together!

Yeah i think people should edit their title to SOLD - whatever their title was

Just create an icon. You know how you can give each topic a smiley face for example which shows up next the title on the board listing? Make one that simply says 'For Sale' and another which says 'Sold'.

That way, members can easily define which are items are still available.

yeah either make a rule that when your item is sold you edit the title so it has SOLD next to it, or just make it even clearer and delete the title and instead just have SOLD. I also think fishkeeper2006's idea could work, to have a for sale and sold icon to put next to the title, that could be a more long-term resolution. I see how its a problem, it takes a while to click on a topic, see what it is, then scroll down and see if its been sold, sometimes people dont even post to say its been sold, let alone edit the title.
