Hey. :D

Just bought this fish (impulse, shoot me). It was sold as a "Freshwater Pipefish". Not a problem if it is brackish, i have salt. :good:

Sorry for bad quality pics

From doing a litle research i get the impression that there brackish

i saw them at the shop a couple of times, but they always seem to die off quickly. i'd lean more to brackish

The little reading I did would make me lean toward brackish too. I would be concerned with feeding it though. I was considering buying a pipefish a little while ago but decided not to. They don't compete for food well at all and it seems that they would do best in a species tank. I woud talk to nmonks, he gave me some info on these fish.

cheers guys.

yeah, im going to keep him in his own little tank. :D i saw him feeding on brine shrimp at the shop, so i know he'll eat.

:good:

Lovely Fish, but Very Hard to KEEP IME.

I had a group of 4 and they would not eat no matter what i tried.

It needs lots of Floating plants to hover in and needs long shallow tanks to move around in.

Live food is better as they can zoom at them and daphnia is very good live food for them.
I also agree that they need brackish water. I kept Mine in Brackish.

Amazing fish and would love some if they appear in the shops again.
