Well actually comets do best at 18°- 22° C therefore imo they are sub tropical to temperate as they surivive in a very wide range of conditions. I said goldfish at best so as to include fansy varieties aswell as the more common pond ones which will die in an outdoor pond whilst commons and comets the OP has will survive without issue.

the only true coldwater fish are trout and salmon and the like...carp, goldfish and koi are temperate fish.
