I'd like to know what kind of fish I have

Hi guys!

I have a 30 gallon tank (I think) and a co-worker dropped off some fish this afternoon.

One is long, maybe 4.5". She said its about a year old. Its long and silver with large eyes on the side of its head.

Three are silver and smallish, maybe 1.5" max. They are also silver, have black wiskers and like to swim together up the sides of the tank.

I also have a 6" pleco and a male guppy as well as a gold and a black snail.

Does anyone have any ideas about the silver fish? I tried to get pictures of them but they don't stay still.

Are both eyes on the same side? Might be a flounder

From your brief description I would guess they are juvenile Columbian Shark Catfish...do they look like sharks with wiskers and have black tipped fins?

Why don't you post a pici of them in members aquariums and I'm sure you'll get an answer.

Pufferpack, the three are indeed Columbian Shark Catfish.

The other one is not one that has been mentioned here.

I do have a digital camera and I just cleaned the tank they are in but my batteries ran dead so I have to get some more later on..

Thank you all! Even if they weren't what you thought they may be, I was able to eliminate what they aren't.

I just did a search and I believe I have an irredescent shark.

If one account is true, they reach 52" long. Does that sound right? How many feet is 52"?
