Ick treatment in a large aquarium.

yes it will stain your sand......

I know from first hand experience. But it really just made it slightly darker in the long run. After treatment was finished I stirred up the sand really well so it didn't show up as well.

oto's are closely related to plecos, so i imagine that they won't respond well to adding any salt. i'd put them and the Farlowella in the 10 gallon with an airpump and perform small water changes twice a day. since all the meds will probably do bad things to your beneficial bacteria anyways, i wouldn't obsess over the tank being uncycled. plus just those two small, low-metabolism fish won't produce *that* much waste anyways.

if you remove those guys, then i think you should be safe to use a salt regimen as part of the treatment, which would probably help quite a bit.

Allright all my questions have now been answered but the one about the True Siamese Algae eaters (hard to find really & expensive shipping! :p) Will I be able to use full dose with them in the tank or no?

Well, i'm losing my battle against ICH it seems

i've raised the temp, added salt, medicated and did 25% water change about every other day, but the ICH is progressing (slowly but surely)...

Guess i'll get a chance to start a new tank soon :byebye:
