That last assumption isn't correct.As many know I'm old school. Raising the temperature for Ich treatment has been recommended since I had my first tank in the late 1960's or early 1970's.
Also I keep my normal tank temperature at 81F. Won't stop Ich but WILL make it harder for it to infect fish.
Higher temps upto 86F fasten the lifecycle of Ich and in fact make it easier for the parasite to infect fish (they multiply faster).
This is exact the reason why some meds require such a raise (cause they'll be earlier in a treatable stage of their life)
