8) 8) Hi, I was hoping someone could help me out. I have a small 30 gallon, that I've had for a year. Most of the fish I have are livebearing, so of couse I, keep salt in the tank, and the temp set at 82. Also I've have not bought fish in about 9 months, so I have 2nd and 3rd generations. I always have enough fish to give away, and my plants are doing well. I thought I knew what I was doing. I do weekly water changes, my ph is a constant 7.4. I, have zero ammonia, and trace nitrites and nitrates. Now my problem started a week ago when one of my prize male molly died. I thought it was due to a fight he had. It was like Mike Tyson, and Lenox Louis. Anyway two days later a female molly died (she was my favorite, her name was Blanca). I, also noticed a juvenile sailfin hiding and not eating(normally a very out going dude). so I started a hospital tank with my old 10 gallon which I know I should have kept going for a quaritine or hospital tank, but my excuse is I moved or should say I left my husband in a rush, hence ex angel. Anyway, I started giving the sailfin antibotics, and doing tests over and over again to make sure there was nothing wrong with the integrity of the water. So then later that night I had two more mollies come down with whatever was going on in my tank. Also my Beta(Mr. Beta), started to blow up like a balloon! Poor Mr. Beta! :( So when I, place Mr. Beta in the hospital tank I see the ick or what looks like ick, but he is the only one I can see it on. The others in the hospital look like they have had some scales removed! So I started ick treatments in both my hospital tank, and my main tank. Well the next day everyone in my main tank started to scratch themselves, like there was no tommorrow, on the plants. Well, needless to say, I 've kept up with the treatments, with today being the fifth day. My babies are still scratching a little, should I keep up with treatments, or should I treat for another protazoan? My friends in the hospital are doing much better, I have not seen them scratch though. Poor Mr. Beta is still a bubble, but the salt spots are gone. Oh brother, I hate this crap, I am so stressed out. It's funny, I've been so careful, or I thought I was. I stopped buying fish and plants for this reason. I did not want to take the chance and the bother of disease or parasites! So how could I have gotten this problem, if my fish have basically been isolated for so long? Is it possible that the first fish I started with had things that were dormant? How can that be? The older fish are not in the hospital. So could this have come from the air, the food, or water? Please could someone give a clue or two?

Moving this to emergencies where you'll get more response :)

you said you moved in a hurry. It could be the difference in the water being used. have you tested your tap water ay your new location? the change in water conditions can cause great stress on fish and bring disease. when I brought my betta from home to waork he got ich after the first water change. I have since brought water from hoe to change with and he has been alright. (although his entire setup is at home right now until they get some power issues fixed in the office)

If Mr. Beta is still a bubble (dropsy), perhaps he has internal bacteria. When their environment changes, it'll cause them to stress out and the body immune system will fall, so this increases the subceptability to illness, cause from what I read, there's always some sort of bacteria in the tank that u can't eliminate, and won't affect healthy fishies.

Diseases are ever present in fish. It only takes a high stress level and/or poor water conditions for them to overcome the fishes immune system. If you betta has dropsy, the best remedy i have seen is to place it in a shallow container, and also dose with epsom salt. 1 teaspon per 10 gallons is the normal dosage, adjust accordingly. Sounds like the others are coming along fine so i won't touch on that. Hope all get better, keep us posted.

Oh yah, keep up the meds. For ich i think its for 15 days.

Ich is like the fish is sprinkled with salt, i had this problem with my goldfish a few weeks back, raise the temp up to 80F which is roughly 27'C, and 1 teaspoon of salt per gallon of aquarium water every 12 hours for 3 days and add an anti ich treatment.

Interpet Anti White Spot treatment is very good. Continue the treatment until all the white spots (cysts) drop off and then continue treatment for another 10 days after.

What other syptoms do they present?

As we need to make sure that it is ich and not flukes or velevt disease.
