that 80+lbs of LR is going to hinder the performance of that UV sterilizer. Also be careful raising your temp. All that does is speed up the life cycle of ich, not necessarily kill it. It could however stress or kill any corals or inverts. If you'd be willing to remove the inverts and corals (if you have any) and put them in another tank, you could lower the salinity of the tank. That method will kill ich. You could also go vice versa and put the tang in another tank where you drop the salinity down to I believe 15ppt (make sure that's correct).

well the temp isn't to much of a problem anymore. ever since I got my T5's my water is at a constant 80 to 82 now. so I don't really have to raise the temp anymore, at least I don't think.

I don't have a hospitle tank setup yet....funny cause I have 3 salwater tanks lol. never had a problem. but hey you live you learn.

oh and also. sine were on the topic of the tang I have another question. ever since I put in the new light (went from 130 watts to 324 watts) his eyes have turned black. like the whole eye. it looks like he put sun glasses on. might this be a way for it to block out light? his colors have dramatically gotton a lot better looking. and he's still eating just fine. he actually comes up to the baster when I feed now and isn't as scared anymore. however I'm worried about his eyes?

The only time I've heard of a hippo's eyes turning colors is because of chemical poisoning from stressed corals...

hmm...well that's definately not good. I hope its not that. all my corals all all out and fluttery and look happy. ill do a water change and see what happens with that.

all my parameters are fine I just checked them yesterday. only thing that's a little off is my nitrates which are at about 5ppm. maybe they got stressed out over me adding the new light. because a day later is when the tangs eyes turned black. also if he's getting poisoned wouldn't he be acting a bit different perhaps? he's eating, and looks happy all the time. also wouldn't the other fish show some symptoms as well? everything else looks perfectly fine. not saying its not a possibility, just asking.

you know maybe i'm going crazy, but i guess his eyes arent blackened. i just looked at him again and he looks normal. thats a relief
