I no most of you will hate me for this but i think my tank has ich and im not usin meds!the last time it was a disaster is there any other way i cant treat it?I cant use salt coz ive got cories in there -_-

yeah i was kinda lookin for a treatment without meds! Its just i have a 250-gal full of discus chiclids etc and i bought some new fish they has ich and i tried usin meds since most of the fish im the tank cost likr £40 each so i tried savin them and i followed the instructions to the dot and the fish all died so i want to try something different before using meds!

The fish have spots that look like grains of sand and are white
all fish exept the cories have them
water is fine
in a 30gl everything in the sig!

I would use meds, you could end up losing them again, even if it's at half dose.

Ive raised the temp up to 85-89 and did a couple of water changes...the platys seem to be clearing up but the tetras are awful!i dinno waht to do..

I would go in with meds and half dose got to be better than nothing.

This is a really dumb question but I'm going to ask it anyway. How do you pronounce "ICH"? I have been very fortunate that I haven't experienced this disease yet (know on wood). If I do however and go to the LFS, I want to be able to ask for an "ICH" treatment without sounding like an idiot. Is it pronounced like the "ich" in which and rich? That's the way I've always thought of it. Or is it like the "ich" in ichthyology (maybe they're the same and I've been saying it wrong all along)?

'ick"

ich is derived from a word i can't remember, which in turn is derived from ichthys, the greek word for fish!

anyways, remove the cories if you can to a quarantine tank. cories are reportedly quite resistant to ich. now treat the rest of your other tank with salt. you may want to treat the cories with meds while you're at it so they don't reintroduce ich when you put them back.

best of luck!
