Ich :(

Just figured out all of my fish have ich. any meds you suggest I have 8 platys 3 cardinal tetras and 1 bristlenose pleco.

I use Kordon Rid-Ich plus, and it works great. Slowly up the temp to 29C (82-84F) and dose per what the bottle says. Heating the tank speeds up the life cycle of the parasite, and allows the medication to kill it, as the meds are only affective on the free swimming parasites. about a week of treatment and your fish should be okay, maybe up to two weeks.

I would suggest salting the tank so the fish can breathe, but that may be hard on the pleco. So don't do that unless someone who knows for sure can clarify.

ok the temp. right now is at about 78 so should i up it like 2 degrees a day or 2 degrees every couple hours?

i upped my from 78-84 over the course of 24 hours.

i was gonna use a qt tank then i found out they ALL have it.

what a day this is turning out to be ive got ich and ive got a bunch of projects to do both around the house and for school.

yeah but ich can be pretty easy to cure. dose the tank once a day and up the temperature. apart from that there is nothing else you can do.....oh and daily water change/gravel vac

how much water should i change i just upped the temp. to 80 ill up another 2 degrees in a few hours.

They all look pretty bad. white spots all over their bodies mainly on their fins those. they're all trying to scratch themselves on the tank walls.

does this have anything to do with the water being cloudy?

No but doing daily water changes will get rid of cloud water, Yuk!

I'm gonna do a 30-40% change today then would 10% work daily?

Thats should be okay. YOu will need a siphon though for the gravel. The ich eggs will get in the gravel, not to mention the parasites dropping off of your fish

ich eggs? How does ich lay eggs? are they like microscopic eggs or something?

my LFS didn't have any krdon ich-rid plus so I bought another product I'll say what it is later I forgot off to do the water change though.
