Ich....

Use king british white spot treatment and raise temp by 2 degrees for a while-this speed up the process of the ich organisms life cycle.

Hi, I have a question about ich. I have cardinal tetras, and today I noticed one of them has a white spot, right on the top of his head. My first thought is of course, holy crap what do I do!? So I looked up some treatments, apparently instead of using harsh and possibly harmful chemical treatments you can use something made from Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate.

The guy recommended something called Had A Snail. Which is supposed to kill all invertabrates but leave fish and plant life unharmed. Is this viable? It seems to less complicated and quicker than the usual methods but I wanted a second, third and maybe even forth opinion before I went ahead and did anything.

Thanks in Advance!

Lots of info on ich can be found here: http://www.skepticalaquarist.com/docs/health/ich.shtml

including, treatments, and many common ich myths (and the real truths!) that are spread around the Internet. The most important thing in this fight is to know thy enemy, and this website will give you a great start in that direction.

After reading all of that information, I'm not sure it's ich anymore. The fish with the one white spot isn't acting any different and now I notice there is...white stuff growing on my decorations.

I'm so confused, I can't find anything about what it could be either, I'm just at a loss. Although all my fish seem healthy even the one with the one white spot, they all have good appetites and color, no funny swimming or scratching against anything. Schooling properly etc.

If anyone can let me know what's going on, again that would be really appreciated.

ETA: Things seemed to have sorted themselves out to some degree, with only a little bit of white stuff left on the decorations and the spot clearing up off the fish. I guess as long as it keeps going away it's fine. *shrugs*
