I think one of my platy has ich..... should I quarantine the whole tank?, I don’t have an hospital tank so would a 1 gallon bottle be ok? I have plants in my tank what ich medicine can treat the tank with out harming the plants?

the one gallon bottle question is stupid but .... just wondering if thats better then leaving him in the tank. I have aquarium salt but that can be harmful to plants....

Firstly make sure that it is ich you have and if it is then you will need to treat the whole tank as the parasite will remain in the tank even if you pull the Platy out. What fish do you have in the tank and what makes you think it is ich?

I see two white spots (salt size)on the fish's fins. I just got him yesterday so would he infect my tank that quickly? so what meds are safe with plants. I also have ADF in my tank, would they be safe from ich or the meds?

Yes the ich can infect the tank that quickly so it is always advisable to treat the whole tank. Putting new fish into an established tank always presents the possibility of bring deseases or parasites so the best thing to do in the future is to set up a small quaranteen tank and any new fishes go in there for at least a week ideally two.

Which meds are good with plants is a question I honestly can't answer as I don't have any plants so maybe someone else can help you on that.

I personally use Waterlife protozan or methylene blue(I do know this one is not good with plants).

thanks breezer40 but can't any one else answer my question? which med is good with plants and frogs? should I take them both out? I still see no small spots on my other fishes, so I shouldn't start treating yet right? The platy is currently out of my tank.

so the best bet is to take the plants out I guess, since no one answered...... What about the frogs? I could just put them somewhere else while I clear the main tank of ich?

Well I bought "Ick clear Tank buddies tablets" by Jungle for my tank because it was the only one that says it's safe for plants and scaleless and tetras fishes..... I took the carbon out of my tank put half of the tablet in and rise the temperture to 80 F. So far it's doing better all ich are not visble on my fishes. Sounds to good to be true... for the first day of treatment, today is day two.I lot of people recommend 5 or more days of treating the tank to completely get rid of the ich, so should keep redoseing everyday in till I reach day five?

The Box says to change 25% of water befor redosing.

What do you guys recommend that is best for me.

there is 3 obtion u can use for ich cure as I have learn from monthly fish hobby magazine

#1 which is chemicals treatment that only work on the developmental period of ich parasite(which might/might not cause harm to ur plants depending on brand). If it was a more resistant variety parasite then it wouldn't work.

#2 Current treatment this require u to have 1x new parasite free quartine tank. Where ur sick fish will be transported to and this tank must have very strong current. Thereby preventing the parasite from settling and attacing(ich parasite must attach to something inorder to develop and release its infectious swarmers)

#3 Transfer treatment this require u to have 2x tank with parasite free(not including the one ur clown in right now and also it must be cleaned after ur fish transfer to another one read under for information on why). it does have to be a large tank it just need to be a bare tank with nothing just a heater and a filter inside. And the reason why it call transfer method is because u will have to transfer ur fish between this two tank for 3 day once every 12-24 hours. And this prevents a fish from being re-infected. By the time the parasite has detached from the fish and released its infective swarmers, the fish is safe in a new tanks. With in 3 days treatment. Viturally all the parasite will drop off the fish. Since swarmers die with in 3 days in the absence of a fish host. Then the fish can be remove back to its original tank. This method amount all is the best way to treat resistanted variety parasite. But also can cause extream stress by moving fish arround. But it have been provent by alot others that it work.
