Ich on filter catridge

I just recently put a filter cartridge from a tank with ich in a bucket of declorinated water. How long does it take for the ich to not be on the filter pad anymore?

I assume it's not a disposable cartridge just a pad? But at least a week is generally a good start with high temps and a pinch of salt

3-4 days without a host(fish) and ich dies.

Ok. If I leave it in a bucket for that long it should be good and It would still have beneficial bacteria but no ich?

Put an airstone into the bucket. That way the bacteria will get the oxygen and more importantly the water movement they need.

why didn't you just leave the filter pad in the filter and treat the tank with heat?

I treated it with a fluid and I had to take out one of them bc it had activated carbon

if you ever get whitespot in your tank again, just do a 90% water change and complete gravel clean, then raise the water temperature to 30C (86F) and keep it there for 2 weeks. It will kill the parasites and you won't need chemicals.

Just make sure you remove any chlorine/ chloramine before adding any new water to the tank, and increase the aeration to maximise the oxygen levels.
