Treated for ich over a month ago. Have been fine for a few weeks now and all the sudden it's back. I noticed it on my black neons yesterday and today I noticed a few of my loaches acting a little off(really worried about these guys they're expensive and my favorites)

My big question is what brings ich back after treatment? I treated 14 days last time around.

Tonight I vacumed did 50% water change set the temp to 86 and added Mardel Maracide to treat again. But how can I stop it from comming back again?

I NEVER add any water from LFS tanks

Thanks

There is always the presence of ick in your tank. But, your fish will only get it when they are either stressed, sick, or the conditions arent as good as they should be.

Hmm condititons don't get much better.
PH6.8
ammo 0ppm
nitrite 0ppm
nitrate <5ppm

Then I would just keep an eye on the water and make sure the temperature doesnt go up or down to fast. I know you know what to do, although it will eventually go away.

I haven't seen mine since I last irradicated it. I don't think I believe that it's ever-present... when I had it even the healthiest fish would end up with it, so if it were in my tank I don't think anything would be preventing it from taking a host.

Maybe you just didn't manage to get rid of it all last time... go to the extra trouble to really make sure it's dead this time and maybe you won't see it again.

Sorry for stating the obvious, but sometimes I forget things, too :) : there are other sources of stress that aren't related to water chemistry. That might be a cause.

And, although I'm not a big proponent of the "ideal conditions" idea, could it be that one or more of your fish is having problems with a slightly acidic water?

Just taking guesses here.

Are you putting the full dosage of meds or half? (I thought it was half because your yo-yo's?)

I just got over my 1st case of ich in about 2-3 years.

I KNEW it was coming because I bought a dwarf copper-fire gourami and the next day I saw 1 dot on him. :X And no, I don't quarrantein my new fish.

I used Super Ich Plus, by Aquatronics, and it was gone in 4-5 days. I was nervous because I had a cory and an ADF in the tank (5.5g), and it was such a small tank. I used the full dossage and the cory and ADF seem fine.

And ick is ever-present in all fish I believe.

Wish I could help you more sky, I know this tank has been a problem for you. :/

>>> I don't think I believe that it's ever-present...

Consider, you have a zero stress tank and it has been running for a year without any alterations, or additions. Suddenly you have a power outage for a considerable time, while you are away. The temperature drops substantially.

I've been there, that was also the last time I had any white spot in one of my tanks. Where did it come from?

It is there.
