I put a new fish in my tank, 2 days later noticed Ich spots - my question is 'if spores have been released into tank how long would it take before I noticed symptoms in any other fish' i.e how long do I have to hold my breath?

Are you medicating for the whitespot, not long i would think as it spreads quick.

At normal aquarium temps some claim Ich completes it's life cycle in seven days ... four days in the fish ... when you see the last white spot fall off .. from that point the next wave of spots would show up in seven days .... more or less ... so about seven days and maybe a few extra days to be safe before I would pop the cork on the champagne bottle and claim victory.

Start treating as soon as you see a spot you know is Ich... do not wait ... each spot on the fish now will fall off and develope into several hundred Ich parasites in as little as 24 hours ... Ich can be fatal if it gets into the gills of your fish ... and the new fish being somewhat stressed is just what Ich needs to get a jump start in your tank.

There is some great info on this site and links regarding Ich ...

Good Day .... B)
