I have just looked in my tank and i have an outburst of ICH!!! I cant say really the water perameters but i can say their acting really eratically and swimming around really fast! The fish that have got ICH are my 6platys and 6 neons(i was wondering about a treatment but i dont know really)is it too late to save my fish?Or should i buy a treatment(my lfs is closed till tommorow)so can i give them all a salt bath?or will it affect the neons and the gouramis?

Raise the temp to 82 F and add aquarium salt if you don't have any scaleless fish....

I just had my first breakout and this is what I did....by the way the ich is gone from the fish and I didn't lose any.

If you havene't already, raise the temperature in the tank to 82...ich is a parasite and it cannot handle the high temperature but most fish can. If you catch it early enough this may be all you need to do.

When your store opens, buy a bottle of CopperSafe and add 1 teaspoon for every 4 gallons of water. This will last about 1 month in your tank which should take care of the current outbreak.

Good Luck, the key is to act as early as possible.

One of the best treatments I've seen is the Interpet Whitespot treatment (can't remember the number), dose your tank and gradually increase the temperature. You don't want to raise the temperature too much in one go (what is it at the moment?). Adding small amounts of salt will help the fish but if you've never used it before its best to avoid it as you can create more problems in the long run. Also if you've got cories, plecos or other catfish the salt will cause them problems/kill them as they're pretty much intolerant to salt.
