Some are pretty hard to resist, and they typically aren’t my kind of thing… I had a post recently on my Electric Blue Acaras… a really nice fish… sorry, I have another I’ve fallen for…

I added a small shoal of long fin bronze Cory’s to a tank, to try… I got them from Dan’s, and he even said he didn’t want to get them, but had a request, and now he loves them… I’m hooked, too, and just ordered another group, to give myself, my biggest shoal of Cory’s I have in any tank, they are awesome…

Classic case of beauty is in the eye of beholder. I love corydoras but can't bear to look at (let alone keep) the long-finned ones, same for Bristlenose.

But I like a lot of hybrids and keep and breed Blue Polar Parrot cichlids, and love general Parrot cichlids as well. My street cred on forums that are not specific to hybrids takes a massive hit. Some get angry/emotional, but I do understand there are "bigger picture" concerns about breeding practices and if these man made (partially) fish breed with "natural" fish.

That's not really your point, but kind of relates I think.

Everybody's got their own preference what to like or even love...

I am aware of the fact that people at forums can be negative about specific breeding forms. I'm okay with it as long as the modification of the fish is not bothering those fish. Once it's become a burden to those fish, I would reject any positive promotion on these fish. But that can be done in a civilized way. For I do know that a lot of people become hateful and bad mannered to show their opinion.
One can not decide whether someone else must like/love a certain breeding form or not. That's a total personal preference which one should respect.

wc or wild form fishes only for myself. All this man made inbreeding stuff i avoid. Having said that there are population of long fin cory in the wild but i forget which species.

Wild long fin Corys are differently structured. They have dorsal rays that extend, and support fin tissue that attaches to them. They are beautiful fish, but the soft tissue of the fin is well supported and 'aero'dynamic.

The longfin mutation in something like a paleatus works by disabling the fin tissue growth genetic switches, so that they remain on for the life of the fish. This creates soft tissue that extends, but can curl and twist with time, as the supporting structures aren't mutated. A lot of longfinned mutant fish with tough fins, like the Cory group have this issue, and you see crinkly or kinked fin growth as a result.

Didn't we have a similar discussion to this one a few months ago about long fin cory ?
